As part of Barbara’s commitment to helping others, she spent twenty years as a teacher, educating children as young as two and as old as eighteen. She guided them on everything from the ABCs to life-changing decisions on career paths and colleges, and the advice she offered paved the way for their future success. Barbara also volunteered her time as a parenting educator during her husband’s tenure as a minister. “My greatest joy was watching lives change as families put their new skills and strategies into practice,” says Barbara.

When Barbara’s husband was in the ministry, she lived in many different places – from California to Hawaii to Connecticut to Oklahoma to Alabama to Myrtle Beach. And although moving with their two children, Joshua and Amy, was challenging, Barbara and her husband always eagerly packed up and moved on to the next city, because they knew they were making a difference with their ministry – they were the guiding force in their parishioners’ lives.
